That’s why I made sure to fill the place with chess and puzzle decor. Ignacio Robles, the head of the family, lives with his daughter and son-in-law and loves to spend time with his grandchild playing games and having fun. I got the sense that they’re really close to each other and connected to the local community around them, so there is a place where they can socialize with family and friends BUT if anyone needs time to themselves they can hide and relax.Ĭan you describe how you see each family using the homes? Were there certain elements you added that were specific to each family?īoth houses are created based on the rich history of each family, their character and how they like to spend time. It is a big and multi-generational family, so it was important for me to create a space for everyone. We know you’re not supposed to pick a favorite child, but if you had to…which house are you most proud of and why?Ī difficult choice, but I’m most proud of Robles' family house. It’s the perfect house for a young family who just wants a quiet life. There is a lovely sitting area under a glass roof in front of the house and plenty of space for outdoor activities in the backyard.įinally, I made a starter home located in the park district. I imagine that this house has been expanded over the years. This house is where traditional and modern blend together. It’s a perfect home for a family with kids, surrounded by greenery, flowers, and a huge driveway where kids can learn to ride a bike. There’s a large backyard that includes splash pads and a treehouse. It is a traditional blue suburban house with white windows and columns. I started with the Michaelson's family home. We sat down with Monika to learn more about her creation process, the inspiration behind the lots, and what she’s most excited to explore in San Sequoia!Ĭan you give us some background on the three lots you created? Since then it’s been a huge part of her life, helping her realize how much she loved expressing herself through design and leading her to work in a home decor store. Living in Poland, Monika started playing The Sims over 20 years ago when she was in high school. She added so much personality into everything she built, and her lots helped us tell the stories we wanted players to experience. They’re also techies and into science, and the nursery she built is space-themed. I was blown away by how cute and personal it felt to that family. I remember when I first saw the Michaelson lot, and that she’d included a tiny gaming room for Celeste and Christopher off their bedroom. She also built the Michaelson family home for us, which is not only in game but also was used to create the foundation for the Michaelson home we showed in the Growing Together trailer. When you look at Monika’s build for the Robles house, the outside structure shows how they’ve expanded over the years, and the inside has so much thought put into the layout-from Aurelio’s cool upstairs teen getaway to family patriarch, Ignacio Robles’ personal quarters-their home fits them. The layouts and details in her builds felt very realistic, familiar, and homey, so we knew she'd be a great fit for what we were trying to accomplish with our premade lots.ĭespite this being our first time working with Monika, she built some pretty important lots for us! The Robles Family is an integral part of San Sequoia’s history and our pack’s lore, and their home needed to look built upon over time. When we were figuring out who to work with on this pack, we reviewed some of Monika's prior builds on the Sims 4 Gallery. That’s always our goal, but in this Expansion, it felt especially important to achieve given the theme. Growing Together has a large focus on family, so we knew we wanted houses that felt like personalized, lived-in homes for the Sims who resided in them. Most recently, The Sims™ 4 partnered with prominent builder and community creator Dzidziak86 (Monika) to design three lots for The Sims 4 Growing Together Expansion Pack, including the homes of the Michaelson and Robles families and a charming starter home by the name of Parkside Place. We are constantly collaborating with creators to help us bring new perspectives to The Sims. They’re creators in every sense of the word. They inspire us to keep innovating and improving. They play to express their individualities, interests and aspirations.

When I said goodbye to Pablo, he asked, “Can we just have sex real quick before you go?” I went out to the soft room and saw to my relief that Didi was starting to get dressed. I didn’t particularly want Pablo to turn his attention back to my “pregnant boobies” - I wanted to come down from this bizarre evening. I went to the bathroom and took a breather, and once I’d gotten some space from the soft room, I realized that what I actually wanted was to go home. “Call me,” I wanted to say (but I did not). I wanted to pay this guy back like it was my job - or, you know, at least cuddle. They were beautifully lit up by the fireplace and obviously having a wonderful time, but Rob and I were in our own little world.Įventually, he decided that was the end of that, and after I gave him the thank-you kiss to end all thank-you kisses, went to go check on Emma. Every now and then I looked over at our cohorts: Pablo doing Didi from behind or Cassie doing Emma with a strap-on. I have no idea how many orgasms I had, but it was a sizable number. But Rob and I ended up in a corner of our own, where he went down on me for about a year. Around this point is when I started thinking, “All right, Pablo, take it easy on the pregnancy-fetish thing.” He was obsessed with my naked pregnant body, at one point actually saying the words, “Mmm, pregnant boobies.” I am not making that up that’s literally a thing that he said.Įnter Rob, gorgeous Rob, who I don’t remember saying a single word before that point, though I know he must have. So Pablo, Didi and I all started kissing. It’s the ideal room for napping, having a tantrum or - let’s just say - group sex. Then the six of us all convened in a room called “the soft room.” The soft room is exactly what it sounds like. Pablo thought I looked so nice with my pregnant belly in my red dress, he asked if he could take my picture, and I said yes. We stood on the staircase together giggling in shock: “Dude, fuck art! Look at this place!” As struggling theater artists, we both just aspired to live in apartments with windows that didn’t look out directly onto brick walls. This was in March or something.)ĭidi and I were awestruck. And yes, there was a hot tub on the roof. It was huge even by non-New York City standards, exquisitely decorated, everything was automated and so on. We get to Pablo’s loft, and, like… I guess the hotel business in Argentina is a pretty good gig, because this place was ridiculous. So it’s me, Pablo, Didi, Pablo’s friend Cassie (a reiki practitioner) and a couple we’ll call Rob and Emma. How could I turn down such an auspicious invitation? Again, I’m a big believer in taking advantage of unique life experiences when they present themselves. I just heard the words “hot tub on the roof” and immediately said yes. Pregnant women are not supposed to go in hot tubs.
Linda Ellis has used various literary devices to enhance the intended impact of her poem. Analysis of Literary Devices Used in The Dash Therefore, its impact is everlasting and not that of the wealth that a person has earned in his life. However, when a person serves humanity and treats others with tolerance, justice, and love, everybody seems to shower praise when the person dies. Nobody knows what he has done for humanity or others. This is life and what stays after death for others is just a matter of a dash. His friends and relatives see his wealth, while others see how he has lived. Major Themes in “The Dash”: Life, death, and the impacts of service of humanity are three major thematic strands of “Dash.” First, Linda Ellis beautifully recounts that when a person dies, his bio comprises only his date of birth and his date of death. However, she has posed a rhetorical question about how you would feel when your good deeds were rehashed before the public. She comes to the point later in the poem to derive a lesson that if we stop and think before doing a deed how people will respond after our death, then we shall treat all the people differently to fill our dash with good deeds and our funeral prayers with good references for our bios. What matters most is the money and the bank balance that the person has amassed, which are insignificant when compared to the good deeds that could have filled his dashes. She is of the view that they represented when the friend was alive on this earth doing different deeds which matter little to others. However, the poet ruminates that both of these events are filled with gaps she calls dashes. “The Dash” As a Representative of the Service of Mankind: Written in the first person, the poem recounts the death of a person whose friend reads his biography from his birth date to death date with tears in his eyes. The beauty of the poem lies in linking punctuation with human feelings and life. The poem beautifully sums up the missing information in one’s biography when read or narrated on the death of a person to highlight the importance of serving humanity to fill those gaps signified through dashes. Popularity of “The Dash”: The poem “The Dash” by Linda Ellis, an American poet with Irish lineage on the maternal side, appeared in 2004.Would you be proud of the things they sayĪbout how you spent YOUR dash? I suspect this is an issue with the timestamp, but I'm not sure.By Asim Akhtar (CEO) Ultimate Google Ads Time Zone Guide: Conversion Tips 2024Īre you looking to optimize your Google Ads campaigns for different time zones? In this ultimate guide, we will provide you with conversion tips for 2024 that will help you make the most out of your advertising efforts. When I upload the spreadsheet through the Google Ads UI though I get the following error: I have prepared a Google Ads conversion adjustment spreadsheet and copy pasted the values from the call rail spreadsheet, along with the additional information Parameters:EntityType=OFFLINECONVERSION TimeZone=-04:00 ĮAIaIQobChMIhJ_7lPed-AIVK4lbCh1MVwPpEAAYASAAEgJh9PD_BwE This is what that spreadsheet looks like: I have downloaded the list of conversions from converted clicks as an excel through the Google Ads integration page. So I've been listening to some calls through the software and have identified some calls that I would like to retract as conversions, but I'm having trouble getting the timestamp. This will seem like a waste of time 99 times out of 100, but that 100 th time that you decide not to check it is when you’re going to get a flat tire, your spare isn’t going to be inflated, and then you’re going to have to call a tow truck and be charged an arm and a leg. If I had changed it every 3K I would’ve wasted a ton of money, and I felt confident going to the full 7,500 miles because that was the number that Ford was telling all of their Taurus owners to use when changing the oil, so I figured even that was a conservative number. For instance, my old car was a Ford Taurus and it was every 7,500 miles. Look at your owner’s manual to see what is actually recommended. This seems obvious, right? “Change your oil every 3 months or 3K miles, I know, I know, Andy.” Well, don’t necessarily do that. It wasn’t a major concern of anyone, but it gave me a ton of peace of mind to know what was causing the light to come on. I did this once when I was in high school for a different sensor and it was because air was getting into my gas tank because the cap wasn’t suctioning it tight enough, so the sensor went off. Sorry for the tangent, but that part of the podcast really hit home with me and I wanted to drill down on it a little bit more, but alas, let’s get started with my simple vehicle checklist to save your budget!ġ – Don’t ignore the ‘Check Engine’ light on your dashboardīelieve it or not, if the check engine light comes on you can simply go to AutoZone and they will hook this machine up to your car and tell you a general idea of why the light is on. This isn’t me advocating for everyone to buy a new car,īecause I promise I will never ever buy a brand new car with how fast theyĭepreciate, but just me saying that the math of evaluating a new car is moreĬomplicated than just looking at the car payments alone, so, as always, really This is important to know because if your car payment of the 2020 Civic is going to be maybe $100 more than the 2014 Civic, maybe it’s worth it knowing that you’re going to have to pay about $60 more in maintenance and repairs each month, so you’re really only paying about $40 more for a newer car. So, the 2014 Civic is going to cost you about $60/month more in repairs and maintenance over this time-period. The total for those two sections for the 2014 Civic is $7,655 over the 5-years while the 2020 Civic total is $4,051. The area that I really want to key in on, however, is the “Maintenance” and “Repairs”. If you’re like me, you’re going to instantly go to theīottom right corner and see that the “True Cost to Own is just over $2,000 moreįor the 2020 Civic than it is for the 2014 Civic, over a 5-year period, soĪbout a total of $34/month – essentially negligible in my eyes. I found a really cool cost of ownership calculator at Edmunds where you can simply put in the year, make and model of your car and it gives you a 5-year breakdown of anticipated expenses based off driving that car for 16K miles/year, see below: Now, I’d doubt it’s a perfect offset, but even if it’s close, you’re essentially paying the same amount for an older, crappier car – no Bueno. Maintenance, so it could just offset the savings that you’re getting by having That’s true, your car maintenance is going to be much higher than if you wereĪ $5000 clunker being bought outright might require a lot more repairs and You likely can get that thing well over 200K and close to 300K miles if you continue to take care of it and it was taken care of for the first 150K. Like, maybe find an old Honda Civic with 150K miles on it for $5000 and then pay cash outright and drive it nonstop. In episode 140 of the Investing for Beginner’s Podcast, Andrew and Dave talked about a lot of different ways to save money on vehicle maintenance and I wanted to add to that with an actionable checklist to help you save money on your budget.īefore I get into the checklist, I want to comment on something that I’ve heard on other podcasts and Andrew and Dave somewhat spun it on its head on their podcast.Īnyone in the financial independence community is going to tell you to buy a clunker and drive that thing until it dies. It is also useful to use grenades for your own advantage, grenades are very useful at flushing Raiders out, forcing them out of any cover they may have, which will put them out in the open where they can be dispatched. It is also best to engage Raiders in close range or in enclosed spaces as there is more cover and it is much easier to land headshots in close range, plus there are places to retreat to, as Raiders are able to use grenades, making any room with one exit a death sentence. Without AP rounds, aiming for the face is vital, as the hitboxes for the Eyes and Jaws will be protected by, at most, Class 3 face shields however, other head hitboxes won't have any armor class higher than 4.Īlso, peeking the same angle twice is highly discouraged as Raiders will watch an angle if you peek it once so it is best to regularly change your position. If another Scav has provoked a Raider, it becomes hostile to all other Scavs, therefore it is safer to always assume that they are hostile.īecause Raiders are able to have Class 5/6 Body Armor or Armored Rigs, it is best to bring high penetration ammo. If the warning is ignored, they will open fire. Scav Raiders start out neutral to other Scavs (including player Scavs), but will get irritated and shout warnings when they get too close. Raiders often say voice lines while patrolling or fighting and are easily distinguished from Scavs when speaking English. Extreme discretion is required when facing Raiders, as unprepared players will often be shot down almost instantly. Raiders employ multiple different weapons and tactics, not afraid to flank, rush, and pin down intruding PMCs. They fight in groups, often patrolling the Lab and Reserve in squads of 2-4 members. Scav Raiders are advanced Scavs that are considerably stronger and more tactical than everyday Scavs. Scav Raiders also appear in the Arena gamemode Teamfight, where they act as the "cleanup crew" and come in to kill off remaining contestants after the overtime to capture the objective has passed and both teams have players remaining alive. Additionally, pulling the "Bunker hermetic door" extraction lever may spawn them at the train yard. The arrival of the train may also spawn them at the train yard. They can also be encountered on Reserve, in the command area of the underground tunnel system at the start of a raid, and additional ones may appear after the "D-2" extraction power switch has been activated. Scav Raiders naturally spawn throughout Lab location, as well as having a chance to spawn upon activating any of the extraction switches, roaming towards the activation location. 40 Scav Raiders need to be killed on Reserve for the quest The Cleaner.5 Scav Raiders need to be killed in the command area of the underground tunnel system on Reserve for the quest No Place for Renegades.10 Scav Raiders need to be killed in the Lab for the quest Assessment - Part 3.20 Scav Raiders need to be killed for the quest Following the Bread Crumbs. 6 Scav Raiders need to be killed for the quest The Huntsman Path - Eraser - Part 2. In 2012 Reddit saw the birth of a misogynist community called The Red Pill, whose members had awoken to an apparent feminist threat. “Or you take the red pill” ( The Matrix, Warner Bros, 1999)įollowing the Matrix trilogy, Neo’s choice has inspired quite a few people, mostly white men, to “take the red pill.” The red pill meme was coined by Silicon Valley developer and anti-liberal blogger Curtis Yarvin, who in 2007 under the pen name Mencius Moldbug posted “The Case against Democracy: Ten Red Pills.” 2 In the 2010s the trope became a point of reference for the neo-fascist alt right subculture. Against Matrix ideology-according to which human and artificially intelligent sentients may live together in harmony-I propose a more grounded posthuman outlook on our control society, in which datafication slices people into animate things. In this article I embrace such progressive gender and sexuality politics, but at the same time I am critical of the film’s and the franchise’s overall ethereal transhumanist outlook on digitization. Now, in an explicitly feminist and queer narrative Matrix Resurrections reclaims the red pill. But I disagree with Zizek that the film is “not worth seeing” (which is why Zizek-so he claims-wrote his review without having seen the film). Lana Wachowski) is “boringly postmodern and an ideological fantasy.” 1 Ultimately, the film’s longing for synergy between humans and machines resonates just too much with the transhumanist fantasy that also drives Big Tech: an accelerationist new American Dream that burns out people and the planet.
